Two Kiwis. One Goal. Keep Your Data Yours.
Loopie’s your little brother, because Big Brother doesn’t belong in your vehicle.
We don’t want to be tracked. So we’re building something that can’t track you.
When we looked at how most RUC systems worked, we saw a problem. Many providers rely on GPS tracking and collect more data than drivers are comfortable with. We wanted a simpler, private way to stay compliant.
That’s why we built Loopie, a plug-in device and app that makes RUC easy without tracking your every move. You can buy and manage your RUC directly through the app, and if you choose to use the Loopie device, it handles your distance readings automatically.
Loopie doesn’t log, report, or store your speed or location. In fact, it can’t. There’s no GPS hardware inside, and all calculations happen locally on the device or in the app. It’s the simple, private, NZTA-aligned way to take care of RUC.Learn more about how it works on our How It Works page.
Why we started Loopie
It started with a simple question: why does paying RUC have to mean giving up your privacy?
We’d both seen how messy compliance could get while working in delivery operations - hundreds of drivers juggling paperwork, apps, and systems that never made things easier. When the RUC changes were announced, we saw the same old story unfolding again. Big companies rushing to offer “smart” tracking solutions that felt more invasive than helpful.
So, we decided to build something different. A solution that lets drivers pay RUC without being followed everywhere they go. Loopie began as a simple idea between two Kiwis who were tired of seeing privacy treated as optional.
ow we’re growing into a platform that puts control back in the hands of everyday drivers - simple, private, and made right here in New Zealand.
The alternatives are bad news
Most RUC companies on the market are built for fleets, not everyday drivers. They use GPS tracking and store every movement by default, creating massive data trails that someone else owns. That data is valuable, and once it’s collected, it’s out of your hands
Loopie is built different - for drivers, not data. We designed it to make RUC simple and private, without location tracking or speed logging.
Here’s the difference:
- • Fleet and big-tech systems are always tracking your movements.
- • Your driving data becomes something they can sell.
- • Loopie can’t track you, so nobody can force it to.
- • Privacy isn’t an upgrade, it’s the baseline.
What’s next
We’re deep in the R&D and prototype testing stage, refining both our hardware and software for real-world conditions. Our focus is on building a system that’s accurate, durable, and ready for certification ahead of New Zealand’s 2027 RUC rollout.
We’re preparing for an investment round at the end of 2025 to scale production and accelerate testing across more vehicles. The goal is simple: deliver a product that’s bulletproof on privacy, effortless to use, and built to last on Kiwi roads.
